WELCOME!
A New Neighbor

Lakewood Heights has a new resident, Jason Cancienne, on Leah Drive. Here is a short bio provided by Jason.

I am a native of Luling, LA and recently moved here from Hattiesburg, MS.  I have been married to my beautiful bride, Aimee for 5 ½ years and we have been blessed with two precious girls. We are ecstatic to be back in Louisiana and closer to our family and friends. We have already met many of our neighbors in Lakewood Heights and have been kindly welcomed. We feel we have made a great decision and are happy to call it home.

 Jason Cancienne

I decided to open my photography business, Focused on U Photography, LLC which allowed me more time doing two things I am passionate about…being a Dad and photography. I decided to do this after meeting my daughter for the first time and falling head over heels about her. I knew it was time for a career change that allowed me an opportunity to spend more time with those I love. I never dreamed of opening my own business, but it was the perfect solution. This wonderful choice has allowed me to raise my two girls during the day and pursue my passion as a photographer on the evenings and weekends. I consider myself one of the luckiest guys around.

Photography was instilled in my heart at a young age by my father. I watched his excitement for capturing timeless images and I always admired his creativity. I followed his footsteps and joined the military after graduating high school and was a photographer/videographer at the Naval Air Station for 7 years. My two little girls inspire me everyday and they have taught me to cherish the small things in life. I love photography because it is the beauty of life, captured. Simplicity, expression, emotion, relationships and love are conveyed in my portraits. I love to capture natural and creative images with the hopes of providing a glimpse into the hearts of the individuals and families I photograph. I strive for enduring and everlasting portraits my clients will treasure forever. I believe my passion and love for what I do shows in my work and my style.

7-year-old boy aims to
bring a smile to
the homeless

Lakewood Heights boy makes it his mission to help the homeless one person at a time.  Cody Hosch got off the bus one day with an idea to make Fleur de Lis ornaments & pictures to sell to friends and family.  With the money going to make back-packs; he decided to fill the bags with food, gloves, hats, socks, toiletries, a blanket and more.  With the $518 he raised in orders and donations Cody was able to make 45 backpacks and thanks to two local stores an additional 33 bags to offer  the homeless at Ozanam Inn in New Orleans.  He and friends have formed “Cody Cares” and will sponsor special projects throughout the year.  They are currently collecting women’s, men’s & kids clothing and linens.  In addition they are raising money ($700) to become an official nonprofit organization so that all future donations are tax deductible.Become a friend of “Cody Cares” on facebook or email codycares2010@gmail.com     To make a clothing donation, drop the items at 370 Laura Drive North or call 985-626-5510.   To watch the video, click here
